Sen. Dan Gelber, D-Miami Beach, announced today that his campaign for attorney general comfortably outpaced rival Sen. Dave Aronberg of Greenacres, claiming more than $325,000 in contributions last quarter compared to Aronberg’s announced total of $260,000.

Gelber’s quarterly total also comfortably exceeded the $270,000 reported last week by Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp, one of three Republicans running for the GOP nomination for attorney general. The other two, ex-state Rep. Holly Benson and Hillsborough County attorney Pam Bondi, haven’t yet released their totals.

Here’s an excerpt from Gelber’s e-mail to supporters:

Once again, I want to thank you for your support. We received over $325,000 in contributions – and we did this during a shortened fundraising quarter of two months.

I have received more contributions than any other candidate in the race – Republican or Democrat. Since announcing last year, our contributions total just under $1 million.

With this overwhelming groundswell, we will have the resources to win on August 24th and in November.
